SC County Veterans' Affairs Offices Utilizing New Claims Management System

December 23, 2020

VETPRO

COLUMBIA, S.C. – County Veterans’ Affairs Officers across the state of South Carolina are now working with a new claims management system software that will better help manage and submit Veterans’ benefits claims more efficiently.

During the months of November and December trainers with VetPro along with leaders from the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs (SCDVA), provided training in-person and virtually to county veterans’ affairs officers.

After careful consideration of the available options, SCDVA selected VetPro as a vendor whose program aligns with the future technological development of the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs (USDVA). VetPro offers a robust digital security component, is fully HIPAA compliant, and comes with dedicated training and continuous user support.

In December, the York County Veterans' Affairs Office hosted an in-person training on VetPro. The attendees consisted of accredited employees from York County, Fairfield County, Chester County and Kershaw County.

More than 10 percent of VA claims are filed through VetPro, designed specifically for Veteran Service Offices. VetPro is currently in use in hundreds of counties across the country and has been used to facilitate claims resulting in more than 6 billion dollars in disability benefits to deserving Veterans.

Janice Helton, County Veterans’ Affairs Officer in Berkeley County, South Carolina says VetPro has been the most instrumental tool they've ever had in terms of assisting Veterans quickly and efficiently.

Janice Helton“Among the pros would be ease of navigation and use, the ability to have forms signed remotely with a smart phone, tablet or desktop or laptop computer, checks and balances - you are given a confirmation number when you upload forms/claims and you are then notified when the form reaches VA and notified again when it's available in VBMS.

The ability and ease of being able to scan and upload large amounts of medical records and/or other documents quickly and accurately adds to the ease of use. Add that to the top rate, same day answers with customer service, even access to the owner of the company, if necessary. I can't recommend a better program!”

41 out of 46 South Carolina county Veterans’ affairs offices have completed the VetPro training, have launched and are working live to serve our Veterans. Those 41 counties account for 85% of the Veteran population in the Palmetto State (approximately 344,329 out of 405,094 Veterans). Remaining counties will soon have full access in January 2021.
