Administrative Coordinator

Patrick SpencePatrick (Pat) Spence currently serves as the Administrative Supervisor for the Division of Veterans Services. Pat retired from the U.S. Army in December 2019, after serving a 30-year career in the Infantry Division and multiple combat deployments worldwide.

Pat joined the SCDVA Team in August 2020 as a Non-Paid Work Experience Candidate through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation Services, he later transitioned into an accredited Claims Representative with the organization.

In his role as the Administrative Supervisor, he manages and oversees both the South Carolina Tuition Assistance for Certain War Veterans’ Children and the War Roster Program. He also serves as a Veteran’s advocate, advising them of all available benefits. As a Claims Representative, he vigorously pursues benefits for Veterans and their families at both the local and federal level by presenting both oral and written arguments on their behalf to board certified Veteran Law Judges and the local U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs representatives to obtain much deserved benefits.

Pat is dual accredited by the Office of General Counsel, Washington, D.C. with both the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs, and the American Legion to represent Veterans and their Families. Pat has a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from Excelsior University.
