dsfdBobby L. Patterson Jr. joined the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs as Chief Financial Officer in January of 2024. With three decades of financial management experience in the federal government, he was responsible for overseeing budgets and payment transactions totaling $1.1B. 

Bobby’s international financial management experience encompasses assignments with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and supporting US Foreign Policy in the Middle East. He’s worked directly with the World Bank/International Monetary Fund, US State Department and a myriad of banking officials; including the equivalent to the US Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank.

Receiving dual undergraduate degrees in accounting and business administration from Eastern New Mexico University, Bobby also has a master’s degree in finance from Webster University. Coupled with executive comptroller education from the University of Syracuse, he is a National Security Fellow, retired Certified Defense Financial Manager and former adjunct professor of corporate finance education.
