Lora Stuart Shortt joined the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs in April 2023 as the Justice-Involved Veterans Coordinator. Lora has practiced law in South Carolina since November 2000 and is honored to bring her experience to serve the state’s Veteran population.

Lora is a West Virginia native and a proud graduate of Marshall University with an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice-Legal Studies. She earned her Juris Doctor from the Ohio Northern Claude Pettit College of Law where she served as a teaching assistant in Legal Research and Writing and clerk to the Honorable Karen Elliott.

Lora’s father, brother and nephews all proudly served in the United States Army. Lora is the mother of two adult children, Blair (Atlanta, GA), and Katherine (Gilbert, SC). Lora resides in Lexington, South Carolina.
