Our Relationship with the Media

The South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs (SCDVA) Office of Public Information serves as the responsible advocate of the Secretary’s intent in the line of effort of Informing and educating the public, State and local leaders and Veterans on all matters pertaining to Veterans.

The Office of Public Information’s communication with members of the media and the public is guided by the principles of integrity, honesty, accuracy, and media ethics.

Our staff will respond promptly, courteously, and professionally to requests from members of the news media who seek information about the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs or access to the department’s Secretary, senior leadership, staff, and/or Veteran service organizations and partners.

SCDVA’s Office of Public Information expects members of the news media to conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner when contacting or interacting with department staff and partners, or when present at SCDVA headquarters, designated facilities, or SCDVA events. The news media should request permission from the Office of Public Information before filming on any SCDVA properties or department-hosted events.
