Beagle Order of Palmetto

COLUMBIA, S.C. - On Tuesday, June 8th, Governor Henry McMaster presented Brigadier Gen. Milford H. Beagle Jr., with the prestigious Order of the Palmetto. The Order of the Palmetto is the state's highest civilian honor.

General Beagle, who is a native of Enoree, South Carolina, is preparing to say farewell as the Commanding General of Fort Jackson in a Change of Command ceremony on June 18, 2021. Beagle is returning to New York to become the Commanding General of Fort Drum where he previously served as Deputy Commanding General for Support, 10th Mountain Division (Light) before coming to Fort Jackson in 2018.

Governor Henry McMaster, members of the South Carolina House, the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs (SCDVA), and the Columbia Chamber thanked Beagle for his service to Fort Jackson, the Columbia community and then entire Palmetto State.

Representative Beth Bernstein and the Richland County Delegation presented Beagle with an appreciation proclamation during the Tuesday, June 8th House session at the South Carolina State House shortly before Governor McMaster's awarding of the Order of the Palmetto.
