Columbia, SC (SCDVA) - Hampton County Veterans Affairs is recognizing Ivy Boles [pictured center right] for 10 years of service as she retires from her role as secretary with the county office.
Boles was presented with flowers and a framed certificate during an early December county council meeting in appreciation of her selflessness, commitment and outstanding work during her time with the county. Those who worked closely with her — including her director — described her as “kind, caring and easy to work with.”
Boles served under former Hampton County Veteran Affairs Directors Betty Hodges and Sharon Johnson, whom she was instrumental in training.
Employees in the B.T. DeLoach Building speak highly of Boles, and staff with the Hampton County VA say they still receive calls from residents requesting her assistance.
Boles said she is appreciative of the VA directors and officers who supported her as she assisted veterans and their families in Hampton County.
“I also appreciate the South Carolina Association of Counties (SCACVAO) for the excellent training that helped me assist veterans successfully. I would also like to thank my director, Mrs. Betty Hodges, for giving me the chance to serve,” Boles said.
The Hampton County Veterans' Affairs Office is now managed and directed by Naomi Sanders who was instrumental in ensuring Mrs. Boles received the retirement recognition she deserved.
