Back-to-School Drive to Support Military Children

South Carolina is home to more than 600 Purple Star Schools, and the supplies from this drive will go directly to supporting military-connected students in these districts. 

What is a Purple Star School?

Military-connected students must overcome frequent moves, prolonged separations from family, and the stress of changing schools and friends. Purple Star designations mitigate these obstacles by laying out specific requirements, targeted training, and the implementation of specialized programs and resources. These designations are awarded by the South Carolina Department of Education, and the requirements and qualifying criteria are set out by the Military Child Education Coalition. Our team here at SCDVA knows how important these resources are in supporting military families and work to foster these partnerships and support our Purple Star School and Districts which is why we are hosting this school supple drive.
